Student Volunteers Inspire Reading, Drive Sales
By Rhonda Boggs, Media Specialist at Sammy McClure Middle School in Dallas, GA
Student Volunteers When a Scholastic representative suggested BFC Rhonda Boggs recruit a Student Crew to help with her Fair a few years ago, she wasted no time recruiting a team of 20 energetic students. Since then, her Crew has quadrupled in size, her Fairs have become the most anticipated events of the year, and Sammy McClure has been nationally recognized for its efforts…multiple times!

“Would you believe that 3 1/2 years ago, I had no clue what a Student Crew was? I’d been a media specialist for close to two years and had hosted about four Fairs. I’d hang posters, make a few announcements, set up, and sell. Keep reading to find out how you can replicate my success at your school too.”
